Getting Ready For a Game

The life of a baseball umpire is a tough life, they are constantly being questioned by coaches, players, and fans about the strike zone, they take foul balls off their bodies, or they just have a bad day at the office. However, while umpires are an essential element to the game of baseball, they must exercise good judgement between the lines of a baseball field, as well as in the parking lot.

Unfortunately, some umpires fail to exercise good judgment and elect to change into their game gear in the parking lot before or after a game. While this is a serious and recurring issue that needs to be addressed, Metro Sports Officials wants to remind all of its members that all of its officials are expected to be of high moral character, unquestionable integrity, and free of racial, religious, and personal bias.

Although locker rooms are not provided at most game sites, MSO officials must always use good judgment when changing into their game gear. If possible park in a secluded area, change inside your vehicle or behind the car doors, or better yet, arrive at the game site with your undergarments and uniform pants already on.

The life of a baseball umpire is a tough life, donít make it tougher.
